Name equals eye contact. Always! so be careful with when you use it!
It is the most important thing you will ever teach your dog, not recall, not a down, nothing is more important than focus. Aegon is 7 years old now and I still practice this all the time! I'm still trying to find things that make it challenging for him to focus on me around!
Try and always know where your dogs level of focus breaks! this is SO important and this awareness will make you better than 90% of dog owners! knowing where and when your dog is likely to listen gives you the edge! first off you can manage the situation to avoid bad training and bad things happening and secondly you know EXACTLY what you need to practice to improve your dog!
Always start teaching focus inside with zero distractions!
youre always trying to find where your dogs threshold is and keep pushing always!
there are levels to focus.. the top level is getting your dogs attention first time, reliably away from your individual dogs favourite thing! you have to reverse engineer this and start from level one and continuously work towards the end goal! and knowing where your dogs threshold is is the fastest way to move quickly through the levels!!
Focus is your dogs gateway to EVERYTHING!
